The Green Party co-Leader Metiria Turei's Residential Tenancies (Safe and Secure Rentals) Amendment Bill was one of three member's bills drawn from a ballot in August to go before Parliament. The purpose of the bill is to provide greater stability for tenants with the numbers of home ownership dropping.

Up and down the country Property Managers and Landlords are finding out the hard way that the Court of Appeal's ruling in the now infamous tribunal case Holler v Osaki has now seen tenants walking away scot-free, without being held liable for any damages that they may have caused to the property.
